Chan was among the first cohort of Technical Arts students of the Academy. After graduation, she was Resident Stage Manager of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the premier cultural venue in Hong Kong.

Besies stage and production management, she had a varied career such as Programme Officer for 3rd International Abilympics; Technical Consultant for Golden Jubilee Grand Finale of The Hong Kong Council of Social Service; Set Designer for The Hong Kong Dance Federation production; and Designer for the Millennium Project of Arts with the Disabled Association of Hong Kong.

In 1994, Chan returned to study the Bachelor of Fine Arts Programme at the Academy and graduated with First Class Honours, since then, she has been teaching at the Academy. Concurrently, she has conducted numerous stage management courses and workshops for Urban Services Department, Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Hong Kong School Drama Festival, Electrical and Mechanical Services Department and various amateur groups in Hong Kong. For advancement, she acquired a Master of Education in Teaching in Higher Education at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Chan is a Life Long Member of the Hong Kong Association of Theatre Technicians & Scenographers. She was one of the founding directors of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Alumni Association and served as the Secretary from 2004 to 2007; and the Treasurer in 2008. Besides, she was a founding member of the School of Technical Arts Alumni Association and was Vice Chairman until 2010.
