Mr TSE, Kam Po
Tse Kam-po’ growth was enchanted with a fascination for time, frequency and amplitude - the key attributes of sound.
He was the Head of Sound at the HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity from 2009 to 2015 before joining the Academy. During his residency, He has created intensely breath-taking and critically acclaimed sonic experiences in the audio-visual productions of Noise to Signal Series and Kill the Silence Festival 2014-2016.
His expertise in sound system calibration showcased in the engagement of multiple Cantonese Opera performances presented by the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority in various local venues which in turn contributed to the sound development of the Xiqu Centre and the local Cantonese Opera scene.
Kam-po has more than ten years of experience in sound system optimization. He has extensively sound-system-designed in notable experimental music performances included: “Choi Sai Ho: Audio-Visual Live”, “Volt In Music: First Touch of Electricity”, “Primary Shapes & DJ Tommy: Blending Worlds” and “Choi Sai Ho: Live．Planet．Noise”.
He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in Theatre Sound Design and Music Recording. He also pursued a Postgraduate Certificate in Sound Engineering at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy.
With an acute awareness of the sound reinforcement system for performance space, his professional practice and research have often explored the complexities of active technology and passive acoustic design in the context of performance.
He now spends his working life in academia who focuses on sound system design, loudspeakers alignment and system optimization. He provides comprehensive training by combining essential practical skills and working vocabularies in the audio world, to enable students to realize their professional and artistic goals.
