Biography
Timmy Tsang studied piano performance and accompaniment at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (Piano Performance) with First Class Honours and a Professional Diploma (Opera Repetiteur/Accompanist) with Distinction. He has been the repetiteur for various operas such as Don Pasquale, Una Cosa Rara, Die Zauberflöte, La Bohème, Aïda, Die Fledermaus, Gianni Schicchi, Suor Angelica and L’Elisir d’Amore. He has conducted workshops on piano accompaniment for the Alliance Bible Seminary, the Baptist Theological Seminary and the HKAPA Excel Summer Piano Festival, and worked with the Academy’s visiting conductors and musicians, including Sir Neville Marriner, Lazlo Heltay, Georg Tintner, John Mattheson, Constantine Kitsopolous, Thomas Woods, Enza Ferrari, Malcolm Bilson and Geoffrey Pratley. Tsang is also very active as a collaborative pianist with singers. He has made numerous concert appearances and radio recordings with very distinguished singers in Hong Kong. Recent performance highlight includes the three complete Schubert’s song cycle, Die Schöne Müllerin, Winterreise and Schwanengesang. Tsang now works fulltime at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts as Lecturer (Vocal and Academic Studies), teaching aural training. He is also a voice coach at the Academy.
