The Development Office has also taken a major role
in building and maintaining relationships with alumni.
In 2008/2009, membership of the Alumni Association
recorded an increase in 26%. A sharing session with
successful alumni was held in September 2008.To celebrate
the Academy 25th anniversary, the Alumni Association
is gearing up to stage a production.
Public Relations Office
The Public Relations Office continued to promote the
Academy’s profile to the wider public within the region
and abroad through maintaining close media relations,
issuing Academy’s publications and introducing various
on-line and off-line marketing campaigns. In the past
academic year, the PR Office had launched promotional
activities for 15 major stage productions, two arts-related
symposiums, three visiting artists’ performances, the
annual Open Day, as well as the School of Theatre and
Entertainment Arts’ Fast-Track Programme.
Efforts in soliciting media stories generated over 1,100
press clips within the year. Some of the widely reported
news included: ‘Academy Music student Rainice Lai
elected as the only HK representative of the YouTube
Symphony’, ‘Four Academy Dance students to join the
Bolshoi Ballet Academy’, ‘Twin sisters from the Academy
win the First Prize in Poland’s International Duo Piano
Competition’, ‘Hong Kong welcomes top UK cultural
leaders at the
Clore Leadership Symposium
’ and ‘The
Academy’s Landmark Heritage Campus Béthanie wins
UNESCO heritage award’.
Under the guidance of the Branding Committee, the PR
Office coordinated the making of the new corporate
video. The PR Office also supervised the completion of
the standard design grid for all Academy publications, as
well as the various displays featuring the new Academy
identity and the 25th anniversary logo.
The Society of the Academy for Performing Arts
The signature fundraising event of the year was the variety
show
Celebrity Cabaret
held on 18 October 2008. A net
income of HK$1,924,773 was raised through ticket sales
and performance sponsorships. The Society also made
use of the musical CATS on 27 May and 6 June 2009
to raise HK$ 97,657 through ticket sales and donations.
As of 30 June 2009, the Society’s balance sheet showed
assets of HK$6,038,954, HK$2,880,000 of which was
in the Endowment Fund. Local and non-local SAPA
Scholarships for 2008/2009 totaling HK$3,825,000 were
awarded to Academy students.
