Awards and School Achievements
Acting studentWongChing-yanwon theBest Actress Award
at the 18th Drama Awards of the Hong Kong Federation
of Drama Societies for her excellent performance in
Drama School’s production of
The Visit
. It was only the
second time that a current student picked up this award.
At the same time, the production
The Visit
, directed by
Dr Peter Jordan, was also voted among the Ten Best
Received Productions of the Year. Cheung Ho-kin of
the MFA Directing major won the Outstanding Award of
Translation, which was one of the Hong Kong Federation
of Drama Societies’ 25th Anniversary Awards.
Tang Shu-wing’s production,
Titus Andronicus
, won the
Best Set Design Award and the Best Lighting Design Award
and was also voted among the Hong Kong Federation
of Drama Societies’ Ten Best Received Productions of
the Year.
Dr Peter Jordan’s LCSD production,
Ho Chi Minh in
Hong Kong
, won Best Actor at the Small Theatre Venue
Awards in May.
Wu Hoi-fai was awarded a Master Degree from the Central
School of Speech and Drama in London. He also received
an Asian Cultural Council grant to research documentary
theatre in the USA from July to September 2008.
Student Achievements
This year the first ever batch of students graduated with
Masters of Fine Arts, two majors in Directing and two
in Playwriting. 19 students graduated with Bachelors
of Fine Arts. Of these, 17 were Acting majors and two
Directing majors. First Class Honours were awarded to
Octavian Chan Cheuk-wai (Directing), Wong Ching-yan
(Acting) and Yung Ching-nam (Acting). 25 students
graduated with Diplomas and one student received an
Advanced Diploma.
