Chan Suk-yi continued his part-time studies for the
School of Drama’s MFA programme, while remaining
active in professional performance. He acted in Emperor
Entertainment Limited’s plays
I Ought to Be in
. He was interviewed by TVB in February and
also continued to work as an assessor for the Hong
Kong Arts Development Council.
Cecilia Ng continues her work both as a critic and
examiner for the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.
In November, she performed in
In the Solitude of Cotton
for On and On Theatre.
Terence Chang directed a number of projects including
the re-run of
Beauty and the Beast
for Hong Kong Theatre
of the Deaf and the tenth re-run of
The Story of Tang
Bik Wan
. He also directed the original musical
and the opera
Die Fledermaus
, both staged at
the Grand Theatre of the Cultural Centre.
EstellaWong attended the Asian Theatre Education Centre
(ATEC) annual conference in Beijing in May, and gave
her speech on Drama and Theatre Education.
Study Tours
In early June, a group of students led by Cecilia Ng
and Chan Suk-yi went to Shanghai for the Theatre
Expo organised by the Shanghai Theatre Academy and
the UNESCO-ITI ASIA. At the event, they performed a
workshop piece of their creation, and met and talked to a
large number of drama students from different countries.
Another group of students led by Tang Shu-wing, Peter
Jordan, Lo Koon-lan and Terence Chang undertook a
study tour to Wroclaw, Poland in late June, attending
the Grotowski Festival there. This was an exceptional
chance for them to see a number of world top masters’
work, including productions directed/choreographed by
Peter Brook, Suzuki Tadashi, Richard Schechner, and
Pina Bausch sadly passed away on the second day the
group viewed her admirable work.
